Vanessa Selbst Takes Down NAPT Mohegan Sun Main Event!

April 14, 2010

The 3rd stop on Season 1 of the PokerStars.net North American Poker Tour -aka the NAPT –  brought online phenoms and live players alike to the Mohegan Sun casino in Uncasville, Connecticut. In addition to the several side events that were being offered as part of the experience, the $5K buy-in Main Event was the big draw that brought in the most amount of players. With ESPN camera crews at the ready to film the action, play got underway just several days ago at the featured event.

After getting down to the final nine, a familiar face was knocked out on the bubble in Vanessa Rousso, and another Vanessa was quick to take her place as she would take over the chip lead going into the final table.  Vanessa Selbst, a major online poker pro and instructor (this chick is the real deal at $550+ an hour folks, lol), used her aggressive play to roll over her opponents en route to an 8 to 1 chip advantage when it got down to heads up play.  It only took a few hands before her Ace-High (A 8 os) held over the Queen-High (Q T) of Mike Beasley – as the board would brick out after they shoved it in before the flop.

Selbst took home a whopping a $750,000 for her efforts and solidified herself as one of the top up-and-coming women poker players in the game today.
